One tends to be spoiled by Trader Joe's and their $1.99 per spice prices but let's not forget where we all came from! McCormick and junk has always been pretty hefty on the cost when just grabbing something needed from the grocery store, sometimes a whopping $5.99 for an ounce of smoked paprika (but also thank you, Trader Joe's, for having the most affordable smoked pap available now). That all being said, these are amazing!! They add such brightness and freshness to every dish. Even if I'm just making some weeknight meal, low on creativity, it tastes so great combined with the other items I typically season with. Generally, I do a blend of onion, garlic, smoked paprika, pepper, salt or seasoning salt, coriander, and a bit of cayenne anytime I'm not leaning towards any culture in particular. Adding a pop of citrus along with that really had my palette singing. It added such freshness that really tasted like a well balanced squeeze of citrus. I would say the Orange ginger and Garlic cilantro lime are the heavy hitters here. I only say that because, let's face it, it's hard to screw up lemon pepper, no matter where you get it from. I haven't tried this seasoning yet for classic lemon pepper wings or anything where lemon and pepper are the only stars or anything as of yet so I may end up eating my words when I do. It's just my experience that the best lemon pepper seasonings end up embodying more than just lemon pepper flavor, which is cheating just a bit (a little brown sugar and onion/garlic takes that flavor profile to the next level!). These seasonings are super delish on fish as well. Cod being my favorite. These are definitely now a staple in my house. I can only imagine how good these will be in a fresh summer seafood salad. They really help me be excited about finishing, what used to be dreaded, leftovers. I look forward to them now because these just add that little something something, which says a lot since I already season with what most would consider as something something. There's levels to this stuff! Don't hesitate. I did when I took this out of my cart still thinking about whether it was worth $11 or whatever it was at the time for months... don't be like me.
